bambino goodies christmas gift guide for cool stuff for babies and toddlers

Welcome to the Bambino Goodies Christmas Gift Guide 2011! Here are our selections for children aged one to two. This is one of the most exciting ages; they enter as a baby and by the end they are firmly a toddler. Our selections reflect these big changes from toys to ride and rock on with those wobbly newly-walking legs to sorting, building and drawing. As always our eye is on good quality of design and open ended play.

Vilac Ladybird Ride On is a sturdy wooden ride on with swivel casters to take your toddler in any direction they choose. £45.95 VUP Baby.

We love stacking and sorting and Djeco have some amazing wooden versions designed by French artists. Our favourites are Djeco Stacking Giraffe Toy from Tickety Boo! £14.95 and Djeco Geo Elephant Shape Sorter from Peanut & Pip £22.99.

Janod ABC Walker and Blocks is a great multi-purpose toy as it is not only a colourful walker but has a set of blocks and beads for counting. £59.95 from Lula Sapphire.

Another fab ride on suitable from 1 year old is the Junior Metal Speedster Car which looks like a classic 50s toy. £55 from Little Baby Company.

Selecta Variola Ball Track is a toy which will see many years of play from the simple pleasure of placing the ball in the run and watching it to creating new tracks for themselves. £77.90 from bebemoda.

Early explorations of mark making and drawing don’t have to involve paper. The gg* Oekaki House Drawing Board gives endless scope for trial and error anywhere around the house with no danger of a little experiment on the walls… £49 from Sisters Guild.

Pintoy Shetland Rocking Horse is such a sweet retro design and with the supports at the side they have a little extra support. £65 from Wood N Things.

The flexibility for building with wooden blocks is unrivalled, they can be anything you choose. We love this Brio Brightly Coloured Building Blocks set for the colours and quirky shapes. From Yellow Lolly £15.

Kid O Grass Green Truck is sleek and chunky proving perfect for chubby toddler hands. £15 from Alex and Alexa.

Look out for more gift guides, including books, stocking fillers, advent ideas, and of course our favourites for ‘big people’ over the coming days and weeks.
