Chiconomy Buy: Zara Home’s Villa Chair vs Junior Crate Chair

junior crate chair by Gerrit RietveldKids Villa Chair

What’s the difference between these two chairs? A lot when you consider that one is a pint sized version of a chair originally designed in 1934 by Gerrit Rietveld that still looks like the wooden crates that they were originally made from back then. The other has deck chair and picket fence leanings and gentle curves and also costs around £136 or so less!

The Junior Crate Chair is two thirds of the original size and available in colours too (red, black, blue, and yellow) but whilst it’s retained its quiet, boxy, crate feel, it’s now made of beech wood, although it’s still flatpack. €189 at Rietveld’s shop.

Zara Home’s Villa Chair is made from solid wood (they don’t say which) but at £25.90, this is a super bargain! You can order online but they charge silly money for delivery if you’re spending under £150, so if you live near a store, I’d snap one up there.
