Bubble London Highlights
Ah…two days on the trot spent traipsing around trade shows with the bump and I feel like I need a holiday! I visited Top Drawer Spring (showcasing hot products for the home, gifts, and all sorts – totally amazing) and yesterday was spent at Bubble, the kids trade show. I shall be highlighting the former later in the week but wanted to bring you my hot picks from Bubble.
I have to say – this show was very different from last summer and there weren’t as many new brands, or that many discerning ones, although I did enjoy getting a sneaky peek at collections for autumn winter and catching up with peeps from favourite brands and the many people I talk to over the course of the year about their stores!
Unlike last year where I did a big long list of my finds, I have instead chosen to highlight my six absolute favourites from the show. A combination of great product but also inspirational and engaging people who are passionate about the fruits of their creativity, my favourite six were:
Mini Moderns by Absolute Zero, Teeny Tini by JK Lange, Baby Bloch Shoes, Mambino Organics, Shokay, and Christa Davis.
Mini Moderns by Absolute Zero
An edgy collection of cushions, wallpapers, and accessories for ‘kids and kidults’, we were already converts, but seeing the full collection in person and meeting the absolute charmers behind it, has certainly ensured dedicated fans in us. Made in the UK and dazzling cool with their inspired ‘playtime prints’, they’re seriously flying the flag for British kids interior products. Visit Mini Moderns. See our previous post on Mini Moderns.
Teeny Tini by JK Lange
I featured Teeny Tiny a few months back, a stunning, vibrant, eclectic collection of hand crocheted clothing, toys, shoes, and accessories by serious worker bee, J K Lange who is based in the UK. The detail is exquisite and many of the buttons are handmade too and my shopping palpitation meter rocketed at being in the presence of boho meets ‘ethnic’ delights. Visit
Teeny Tini . See out previous post on
Teeny Tini.
Baby Bloch Shoes
If I were a dancer, I’m sure I’d be flexing up in a pair of their fabulous contemporary dance shoes, and their collection of Baby Bloch’s are just
divine! With leather soles, and materials such as silk, pearlised sheepskin, patent, and cotton, in to-die-for colours and patterns, these are a seriously hot buy! Oh and they go beyond baby sizes (from birth) right up to size 38. Visit
Baby Bloch. See our previous post on
Baby Blochs.
Mambino Organics
It was nice to get some variance and check out something other than clothing and I cannot wait to smother my bump in their
‘Oh baby! Belly Butter’ which has been raved about all over the world. The very down to earth creator Maki, a top facialist in Hollywood, is hugely passionate about her range of 100% natural mother and baby skincare products (she also does other skincare), which smell scrumptious! Visit
Mambino Organics.
Shokay – New! – Coming Soon!
I was really excited by this unusual collection of ethically created baby clothing, shoes, and accessories made from yak fibres – yep you did read that correctly! Everything has been handknitted and after talking to the creators, I know more about yaks and Tibetan herders than I ever expected to! Much of the collection has a deliciously vintage appeal and is oh so soft! Oh and did I mention that you can get most items customised and specify your colours? Visit
Shokay.
Christa Davis
We’re already fans of London based womenswear designer Christa’s Baby Davis and Little Davis range of clothing, and I was in serious lust mode over her collection of clothing made from reconditioned cashmere, vintage fabrics, and Liberty prints, in fabulous cuts which has definitely taken some inspiration from her womenswear, yet without losing the child element. Christa is also extremely charismatic and a great giggle making the pleasure of stopping by her stand infinitely more pleasing. Visit
Christa Davis. See our previous posts on Baby Davis and Little Davis.
Other news from the show:
I’m very curious about which labels will be included when ASOS launch their childrenswear section…
Bambino Merino have swaddling blankets coming out around May time. When you’re done swaddling, they’re big enough to be pram blankets.
Nearly died of mortification when I was caught backing away from a stand about 5 seconds after approaching their gear (I can’t say what as it would give too much away) and a big, booming man that reminded me a bit of Jaws from the Bond films demanded to know why I was running off! Scarlet O’Hara!
37 Degrees who do temperature regulating clothing have added a new pattern.
I’m quite chuffed with my colourful organic facecloths from organic and fairtrade brand,
Picallily. Thanks very much!
I have learned that ‘Pepe’ and ‘Pepe Jeans’ are not the same company… Oops. Had to backtrack after waffling about the gorgeous Pepe boots at
Elias & Grace…
I saw a lot of deep purple at the show…
Hucklebones autumn winter 09 collection is based on little girl reading in the woods theme. They’re only in their second season after launching at Bubble last year and they do still bring out the snatch and grab feeling in me…
Seemingly most people I visited thought I was due any day now…I have 12 weeks to go… This is what you get for being a titch and carrying to the front…

Keith and Mark at Mini Moderns
Hello Keith and Mark! That was so funny! The more we tried to save the wallpaper, the more they went in the tea! My pleasure to meet and feature you, and definitely see you soon! Oh and thanks for the book tip off! I am ordering it right now! Natalie x

Hello!
We were also VERY excited by the Shokay collection – super-soft wool from the belly of the yak!
We were impressed by their ethical emphasis too, working with and supporting the local community. It was interesting that the outer, coarser yak hair is strong enough to be used for yurts, but the wool combed from the belly is ohhhhh so baby-soft.
We will definitely be stocking it next year in our Autumn/Winter collection – come and see which bits we’ve chosen then!
