Belly Bandit

As a new mum, I can testify that what you look like is the last thing on your mind for those first few weeks. But, inevitably, as wedding/christening/party invites roll in, the less than satisfactory state of your body starts to prey on your mind, which is where the Belly Bandit comes in. I don’t know any mum without paid help who has time to do 100 sit-ups a day, so the promise of a more svelte silhouette without the effort has instant appeal.
Abdominal binding has been used post-natally in Eastern cultures for cultures, so the Belly Bandit is just an update of an ancient tradition. Made from polyester and Lycra, with a Velcro fastening, the BB reduces swelling and water retention and will improve your posture and support your back during breastfeeding. It even claims to reduce stretch marks.
I didn’t start wearing mine immediately after birth as recommended, nor have I been wearing it day and night, but when I remember it does seem to smooth out my mummy tummy and generally keep everything tucked in, causing me to walk a bit taller. It’s tight, but not uncomfortably so and doesn’t restrict movement in any way. I’ll report back on any further developments as you’re supposed to wear it for 6-8 weeks to see real results.
As a quick fix to get back in shape after birth, the Belly Bandit is a good buy and comes in funky packaging, unlike other similar products which can look a little medical. Apparently, Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry and Jessica Alba have all worn one post-partum and if their figures are anything to go by…
Available from Cecily Plum for £39 – don’t forget that BG readers get a 10% discount.

Oh if only I had known about these after my 2, I may not of still looked preggers now 18mths on!!
Oh well keep it in mind for number 3! (If there is one)
Hehe
I want one of these but I fear it is already too late for me! Baby 2 is over 10 weeks now.
I want one of these…have done since I first saw them when we were in the US last autumn…but I fear it is already too late for me! Baby 1 is nearly 13 months and I still look 5 months pregnant! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I still think they put my stomach somewhere else when they were extricating Little Miss from my pelvis…pushed things around just for fun. Would love to trial this product for you as a mega-post-partum mother!
Hee hee…that would be a good test though! Let me know if you need me.

I actually got my Belly bandit 3 months post partum and it still worked on me – lost a bunch of inches way quicker than my first 2 babies!
