Battery Free Child’s Play

Flatten those batteries

Batteries have become second nature in most toys today. This is a problem when these toys get disposed of, and who wants to give their child the opportunity to chew on a battery?

For the little ones, decide if all the battery-powered noise is worth it. Could your
little one stay just as entertained with a simpler toy, one that might even let you keep your sanity?

One of my favourite “One Stop Shops” for imaginiative play is Knot Just Jigs.

Unashamedly traditional, the site is packed with the kinds of toys that don’t need a battery, just a child’s imagination. They also specialise in fairtrade and ethically sourced toys too.

My favourite picks from the site are: these fairly traded ethnic rag dolls (above), £8.99-£12.99.

I also love the selection of fairtrade Jigsaws – perfect for little ones developing their fine motors skills. £1.99 – £15.99
