Contemporary and retro animal inspired buys are a big trend with kids gear, especially our well documented grand love affair with owls and a recent interest in horses. But they’d better watch out for the mighty elephant with these three cool buys for children’s spaces.

Frank & Fischer’s elephant coat rack which is also available in blue, is an eco friendly buy made from sustainable wood and covered in non-toxic paint. Utterly adorable for the hallway, their little patch under the stairs, or for helping keep things neat in the bedroom or playroom. €38.95 Shak Shuka

I’m a mega fan of these Elephant Floor Lamps which also appeared in our outdoor inspired room tour a while back. Another eco-friendly buy, they’re made from recycled polypropylene and are child proof and unbreakable. £65 Ecocentric and also available as other animals.

The Eames Elephant by Charles and Ray Eames is made from ABS plastic and can be sat on, treated like a toy, or used as a (very fancy) decorative piece. Originally designed back in 1945 by the famous duo who had a fascination with our trunked friend, it never made it into production at the time, and was finally released by Vitra in a selection of colours. They’re around £140 although Atomic Interiors have them for £112.

Spin Collective’s cool chalkboard elephant wall sticker is a bargain buy at £20 plus BG readers also get 20% off when you use the code bambino20. There’s also the wonderfully sweet pair of elephants for £18 and all stickers are available in 16 colours to choose from.
